An Ode To Dad | Father's Day 2019

Hello everyone!
Yesterday was Father's Day here in the United States.
We celebrated at my parent's house with a barbeque.
We ate lots of food, the kids played in water and we opened presents.
Growing up, I always heard how I would turn out like my parents.
I assumed that I would turn out like my mom but, now I have come to the conclusion that I am more like my dad.
The realization was clear as I found myself laying with one hand behind my head the other holding an ice cold glass of water with my feet crossed at the end of the bed.
This is the position you could find my dad in almost every night while he watched TV.
A few other things I got from him.
My cleaning techniques, my road rage, my comfort in silence, my sausage fingers.
I am grateful to be like my father.
He is such a hardworking man, who was able to keep us afloat my entire childhood.
He is always willing to help others.
He has a lot of wisdom about life that he loves to pass on.
While reflecting this Father's Day I had quite a few memories of my Dad come to mind and I wanted to share them here.

When he took me to see Peter Pan Return to Neverland in theatres.
Jumping on the tramp.
Going to get ice cream at midnight on my sixteenth birthday.
Hanging Christmas lights.
His whiteboard presentations.
When he tried to get a bird out of the house.
Making his lunch every day during the summer.
Painting his toenails bright red while he was asleep.
Driving lessons with him in church parking lots.
Pushing him into the pool fully clothed.
His love for Halloween.
Our duets to Seal.
When he took me to see 13 going on 30 in theaters.
His Donald Duck impression.
Test driving Mustang convertibles together.
Our joint birthday parties.
Making him wear a pink Barbie backpack while Four Wheeling.
Working with him at his business.
How he always painted around the holidays.
Buying a large dancing Frankenstein that we knew Mom would not approve of.
Taking off his work boots at the end of the day.
His amazing drum skills.
Listening to him binge 24 for weeks.
Singing to me while he played the guitar.
Getting his seal of approval on our house.
Teaching me all of the words to Cats in the Cradle.
Going with him to pick up my Dalmation Birthday Cake.
Waiting for Tam outside of church every Sunday.
His French Toast.

I am grateful for my Dad and all he has done for my family.
I am grateful for all of the memories I have with him and that I have the opportunity to make many more.
What is your favorite memory with your dad or father figure?

All my love,
Autumn

Wallet Gift Card Holder | Father's Day 2018

Hello everyone!
Happy Father's Day!
I'll be honest, when it comes to boys I am clueless with gifts.
I usually get them food or a gift card.
And usually the gift card is for food...
This year it's time for a gift card, but I thought I'd dress it up a little with these super cute wallet gift card holders.

You will need:
Cardstock
Scissors
Glue
Pens, Optional
Picture
Gift Card

Start with your choice of colored card stock.
Cut into a 10" X 7 and 1/4" piece for the wallet base.
Fold the 10" side in half.
Fold the 7 and 1/4 " side 4 and 1/4" from the top, this will create a pocket.
Glue the bottom and sides of the pocket down.
Don't glue down the middle or top!
We want to leave that open so we can slip something inside.
To create the round edges I used scissors and cut around the four edges of the wallet.
You can leave them pointed if you prefer.
Using a fine tipped pen I created a border of straight lines around the edges of the wallets to make it look stitched.
This is optional!
If you don't feel like drawing hundreds of lines, don't.

To create the picture frame cut a scrap of card stock into a 4 and 1/4" X 2 and 1/2" piece.
One piece of 12" X 12" card stock will provide you with enough paper for the wallet, frame and gift card pocket.
Feel free to use another type or color of card stock if you desire.
Gently fold the picture frame paper in half so it will not crease and cut a slit in the center of the paper. This will allow you to create the frame's border.
From the slit cut a border for your picture.
I did a simple straight border 1/2 an inch away from the edge.
Glue the bottom and side of the frame to the left side of the wallet.
Don't glue the top!
We need to leave it open so we can place our pictures inside.

To create the gift card pocket cut a scrap of card stock into a 4 and 1/4" X 2" piece.
Glue the bottom and sides to the right side of the wallet.
Once again, make sure not to glue the top so we can slide the gift card in.

To create the card, cut a new piece of card stock into a 3 and 1/4" X 9" piece.
I wanted it to look like money as it will be in the typical place of a money slot, so I used a piece of green card stock.
On it I wrote "You are one in a million!" and decorated it to look like cash.
I can never resist a good pun...
You can specialize the card to your preference.

Place the card in the large top pocket.
Place your picture in the picture frame.
I placed a picture of the receivers children.
It is Father's Day after all.
Place the gift card in the gift card pocket.
All done!

These turned out so cute and made an otherwise plain gift fun.
Plus, they take no time at all.
Even if you draw hundreds of lines. 😉

What are you giving out for Father's Day this year?

All my love,
Autumn

Father's Day Candy Bouquets

Hello everyone!
Happy Father's Day!
Each year for Father's Day I like to give my brothers in law a small gift for being such great dad's to my nieces and nephews.
This year I thought it would be fun to do candy bouquets.
I never know what to get boys besides food...

You will need:
A mason jar
Treats
Wood skewers
A glue gun
Glue sticks
Ribbon

Start by filling up your mason jar with a treats.
I used small rounded treats to fill up the jars but you can use whatever you prefer.
Next, use your glue gun to attach the wood skewers to the back of your candy bars.
Trim your wood skewers till you reach your desired height and to create a layered look.
Tie ribbon around the jar and create a bow to add decoration.

I wanted to make my dad's bouquet a little bigger and fuller to make it more special
I got him a few more treats, a gift card and a father's day balloon.
Since the bouquet was going to be a bit heavier I used a foam block for more support.
I covered the block in blue wrapping paper and added the items to the top.

I love the way they turned out!
They were so simple to create and you can make them as simple or extravagant as you want.
What did you get the men in your life this Father's Day this year?
