My Monday | Taking A Break

Hello everyone.
The past week has been a hard one for us.
We said goodbye to our baby Scout a few days ago.
He was diagnosed with cancer last August and I am sad to say it finally took him.

If you have been following us for awhile you know that Scout was our baby.
We were those crazy dog people you always hear about.
We threw him birthday parties, Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny visited him and Scout was the only one we could justify buying a monthly subscription box for.
Our hearts are broken and we are trying to adjust to the fact that he is gone.
We got Scout a few months after we were married.
We have always been the three amigos.
Now that he is gone it's hard to imagine what life will be like.
It also feels like we lost the first few years of our marriage.
Scout was such a comfort to me whenever I was having a hard time.
If you didn't know I deal with depression and anxiety.
I always told Erik that he could heal whatever I was going through.
The loss of Scout has not been easy for my mental health and it will be hard to deal with in the future.
There were so many things we had looked forward to doing with Scout.
Holidays, trips to the cabin, but the hardest thing for me has been the realization that Scout will not meet our children.
Scout was so kind and gentle with all our our nieces and nephews.
I loved watching them play together.
I know he would have been the best big brother.
I absolutely love sharing my life here with you but I feel it will be best for us if we take some time off to grieve and enjoy each others company.
It won't be a long break but it will be quiet over here for a few days or so.
Thank you for all of your love and support.

All my love,
Autumn

Tuesday December 19th

This is quite possibly the worst vlog ever...
Erik and I do not deserve our Star Wars Advent Calendar, we feed our dog meat and Erik says the "M" word multiple times.
What is something that irritates you?

Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits

Hello everyone!
National Dog Day is tomorrow so I thought I would share the recipe for the Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits I made for Scout's half birthday.

You will need:
2 and a half cups of Flour
1 Cup of Peanut Butter
2 Tablespoons of Honey
1 Teaspoon of Baking Powder
1 Cup of Water
1 Egg
A Cookie Cutter (I used a bone shape)

Preheat your oven to 350o
Mix the flour, egg and baking powder in a large mixing bowl.
Add in the water, peanut butter and honey and mix until well combine.
Spread flour on a clean work space.
Roll the dough until half an inch thick.
Cut biscuits using your desired cookie cutter.
Remove the excess dough and transfer the cut biscuits to a cookie sheet.
Repeat until you reach your desired amount of biscuits or until dough runs out.
To make the biscuits look more authentic I used a fork to create divots in the center of the biscuit.
Place biscuits in the oven and bake for 18 minutes.

I loved the way these turned out.
They were super soft and stayed that way for days.
Scout seemed to enjoy them too!
Have your made your pets homemade treats before?

Scout's Third Birthday

Hello everyone!
You've probably figured out by now that Erik and I are crazy dog people...
We love to spoil Scout.
Especially on his birthday!
Scout turned three this year which is twenty one in dog years.
So of course we had to have a casino themed party!
I created a backdrop out of a green tablecloth and a few sting decorations.
In front of the backdrop I set up our banquet table and topped it with a black tablecloth.

I displayed Scout's birthday cake and presents on top.

Above the table I hung a tassel banner and added a twenty and one balloon.

For our dining table I added a round green tablecloth to make it look like a game table.
In the center I added poker chips and some dog milk bones to replicate the dogs playing poker paintings.

We even had doggy cocktails!

I used a large plastic martini glass and filled it with water.
I added the milk bone for decoration.
Scout actually drank out of it and it made my day!
There you have it.
Scout's third (21st) birthday party!
Do you celebrate your furry friends birthdays?

Bye Christmas!

Saturday January 8th

Erik and I finally got our lives together after the holidays.
We put Christmas away, prepared some healthy meals and gave the house a good cleaning.
To finish it off we had a date night finishing some items up for my work.
What are your goals for 2017?
